This policy describes what happens to data when you visit US Jobs Map. It reflects what the site actually does. If we change how the site works, we change this page.
There are no user accounts, no login, and no newsletter. We do not ask for your name, email address, résumé, employment history, or any other personal detail, and there is no form on this site that collects one.
Our web server records standard request logs: IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referring page, and browser user-agent string. These logs are used to operate the site and diagnose faults. They are retained for 14 days and then deleted. Separately, Google Analytics collects the data described under “Cookies and analytics” below.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful and how they arrive.
It sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_<id>) in your browser to
distinguish one visit from another. These cookies hold a randomly generated identifier — not
your name, email address or anything you have told us, because we do not ask for those.
Google Analytics receives your IP address in order to derive an approximate location. On this property, Google's IP anonymisation applies by default and we do not enable Google Signals, advertising personalisation, or any cross-site advertising feature. We do not upload user-provided data to Google, and we do not use Analytics data to build advertising audiences.
If you would rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on, and any browser setting or extension that blocks the Analytics script will also work. Nothing on this site depends on Analytics being loaded — blocking it does not degrade the pages.
| Service | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | CDN, DNS and denial-of-service protection. All traffic passes through it. | IP address and request metadata. Cloudflare may set a security cookie to distinguish humans from automated traffic. See their privacy policy. |
| Google Analytics 4 | Measures page views and traffic sources so we know which pages are worth expanding. | IP address (anonymised), page URLs, referrer, device and browser type, and a randomly generated cookie identifier. Retained for 14 months. Google acts as our processor; see their privacy policy and Analytics data practices. |
| Google Fonts | Serves the typefaces this site uses. | Your browser requests font files from Google servers, which discloses your IP address to Google. See their privacy policy. |
| Linode (Akamai) | Hosts the server. | Server logs as described above. |
US Jobs Map does not currently display advertising and no advertising cookies are set.
We intend to introduce advertising through Google AdSense. When that happens, this section will be updated before ads appear, and will state plainly that third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites; that Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this and other sites; and that you may opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or, for participating vendors, at aboutads.info.
Job listings link to the site that published them — an employer's careers page, a government vacancy system, or a job-search platform. Once you follow such a link you are on their site under their policy, not ours. We have no control over and take no responsibility for their practices.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with comparable law, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. In practice what we hold is a server log entry tied to an IP address (14 days) and Google Analytics measurement data tied to a cookie identifier (14 months). We cannot link either to a named person, so a request needs enough detail to identify the records — ordinarily an IP address and approximate date.
To make a request, write to [email protected] with enough detail to identify the relevant records — ordinarily the IP address and an approximate date.
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Material changes will be reflected here with a revised date at the top. Questions about this policy go to [email protected].
